
Welcome to the AALL website. Our aim is to provide a forum for professional development, networking, and information for the Association for Academic Language and Learning which represents academic language and learning professionals working in tertiary institutions.
The members of AALL play a valuable role in their universities by providing teaching both inside and outside curricula to assist students in developing appropriate academic skills; by collaborating with other academic staff in the development of curricula so that they provide better learning opportunities for students' development of academic skills; and by contributing to the development of policy in relation to academic language and learning. This role is an important one in today's universities, given the increasing pressures to maintain excellence in teaching and learning with diminishing resources and given that there is good evidence that AALL professionals are indeed able to impact on students' development of skills, and overall success and retention.
In existence since 2005, AALL is committed to promoting and providing academic language and learning development through policies, practices and research that build, enhance and extend teaching and learning opportunities for all students and staff in tertiary education settings.
