Most universities include oral communication as a key graduate attribute. But one aspect of oral communication which is often ignored by ALL practitioners is pronunciation. Despite growing awareness and acceptance of global Englishes, pronunciation can often impede successful communication both within the university and beyond. So what is the role of ALL practitioners in the teaching-learning of pronunciation?

The Pronunciation Matters Symposium aims to address topics such as
• Global English and pronunciation
• Teaching strategies for pronunciation
• Teachability and learnablity in pronunciation pedagogy
• Assessing pronunciation: needs analysis and evaluation strategies
• Motivation to teach and learn pronunciation
• Learner factors in learning/teaching pronunciation
• Myths in teaching pronunciation
• Successful/unsuccessful narratives of teaching pronunciation

You are welcome to present a paper - or simply to come and participate!
