ALL ACT Professional Development Meeting, August 18, University of Canberrra:

Hello NSW/ACT ALLians,

I'd like to announce the theme of the next Professional Development day
and invite you all to come along and be part of the conversation.

It will be hosted by the University of Canberra, Academic Skills Program, on August 18, from 3:30-5:30pm.    20A1 - Building 20, Level A, Room 1.

The first aim of the day will (of course) be to catch up with one another and share some of the exciting things we've been up to, and some of the issues we've been facing so far this year.

The second aim will be to have a focused discussion around the following theme: "Advising students with anxiety and depression: boundaries and strategies".

We're hoping to provide the opportunity for us ALL to discuss our experiences in this area, and perhaps unpack some of the professional judgements we've had to make and some of the strategies we've employed with students whose issues go beyond the purely academic.

To inform the conversation and perhaps answer some of our questions on the theme of 'boundaries' and 'strategies', I've invited the Manager of the Disabilities office at UC, Melanie Kovacs, and UC Counsellor and convenor of the ACT on Anxiety Program, Peter Collis.

 20A1 - Building 20, Level A, Room 1.

If people aren’t sure where to go, they can meet at the ASP (1B24) and someone can show them the way across.

Hope to see you all there!! Rowena.
