Challenges and Opportunities for ALL Professionals in the Twenty-First Century
The Academic Skills and Learning Centre at the Australian National University is hosting a one-day Professional Development Day for Academic Language and Learning professionals on Friday 25 September 2009 in Canberra.
Our aim is to initiate strategic conversations by engaging with and discussing current research into issues specifically impacting upon the academic language and learning profession arising out of the challenges and opportunities for ALL professionals in the twenty-first century university context.
The day will be structured as a series of three facilitated discussions. It is anticipated that facilitators (an individual or group) will identify a research article to be distributed to participants in advance, and then on the day will briefly summarise what they think are the key issues as they relate to the profession (15 minutes) and lead group discussion on the topic.
To this end we are seeking proposals for the discussion sessions. Proposals should address the theme of challenges and opportunities in the twenty-first century university context, include the article/articles under discussion, a brief summary of why this issue is important for AALL members and the name/names of facilitators who can attend on the day. Three proposals will then be selected.
Please submit proposals to Sage Leslie-McCarthy by 25 August.
